Citroen C1 1.0i Rhythm - Citroen C1 Car Review

IT'S described as Citroen's baby and, although small in appearance, the funky little C1 is very big on character.

The five-door Rhythm model boasts vast amounts of space for driver and passenger alike, although the rear-seat guests would have to be somewhat vertically-challenged to sit comfortably, and the boot area, although small-ish, proved quite ample to hold the weekly shopping bags.

In a world where city run-arounds are becoming all the rage, the C1 slots very comfortably into the market. Although its acceleration on the open road, especially uphill, leaves something to be desired, around town, it is nippy, responsive, offers good visibility and is an absolute doddle to park - in even the tightest of gaps.

All the dials and controls are clearly marked and easily operated - in fact, the circular speedo with rev counter protruding is quite similar to that in the fashion-conscious Mini.

Another bonus is the high specifications list that comes as standard - all for a little more than £7,500.

On many other models the likes of cornering stability control, a CD player which is MP3 compatible and variable power-assisted steering would mean quite a price hike, but not so with the C1.

And there are a number of colour-coordinations and model variations to choose from too.

In true Citroen tradition, the C1 scores highly in the NCAP European safety ratings scooping four stars, so there is the peace of mind that as well as being finacially sound, environmentally-friendly and packed with features, the C1 will also offer you and your loved ones good protection in the event of an accident.

In my opinion, the only feature lacking in the C1 is a sealed storage compartment to stash away any nick-nacks as anything left in the car is easily on display.

That aside though, a great run-around and great value too.
