What it means:
This can mean that the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve may be defective. These valves allow exhaust gas back into the engine to regulate the engine temperature in the interests of economy. If they fail or get stuck the engine will run but at greatly reduced efficiency and smoothness.
What to do
If you find this fault, either have the car professionally inspected or try to negotiate £150.00 off of the price of the car. If the car is at a main dealer or under warranty (3 years/60,000 miles) Citroen may complete the repair for free.
