THE French car company whose latest model owes its inspiration to German quality, is now thanking BMW for improvements to its mid-range C4 offering.
Citroen, whose prestige C5 car aims to beat the Germans at their own game, is planning an updated C4 family hatchback in a few months with updated styling and two new petrol engines developed in conjunction with BMW.
Externally it will get a restyled front end, echoing the looks of the new C5, which the company advertises as being ``unmistakably German".
New exterior features will include additional chrome touches, a curvier bonnet and restyled grille designed to give the C4 a stronger and more dynamic image. New alloy wheels and four fresh body colours set off the refreshed look.
Boosting the feeling of quality inside the cabin, the restyled C4 also benefits from an enhanced interior with new velour or leather upholstery together with special paint finishes and premium grained trim on the dashboard and door panels. The rev-counter has been repositioned to the central translucent dashboard display so that all driving information is in one place.
The car has also been given a number of technology upgrades. The latest Europe-wide navigation system has been introduced, with a high-resolution seven-inch colour screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity plus an audio system with a 10GB hard drive.
There are two new 1.6-litre petrol engines generating 120bhp and 150bhp that have been co-developed with BMW.
These new units will replace both the current 1.6 and two litre petrol engines and achieve better economy and lower emissions whilst new low-rolling-resistance Michelin Energy Saver tyres will improve efficiency
