Is there a way to find out any past service history on this car?
I only bought it one and a half years ago, it had no handbook, and already the exhaust system collapsed, then the exhaust fell off and it cost almost £500 at MOT in August.
Rusted callipers, high emmisions, then the clutch needed replacing and the throttle valve has just been replaced today and it is still running rough. Is this to be expected for a car of this age? It has only done 79,000 miles.
Answer
Hi
Some of these bills are likely to happen on a car of that age. It is quite low mileage for the age, so it amy have been sitting around which leads to rust and can be bad for exhaust system and sensors too.
You can call the Garage on the number plate, or main dealers and read the VIN (vehicle unique ID number found on a plate under the bonnet or front windseceen or near the driver's door) to them to see if they have information on their system.
You can also call the previous owners (on the V5 lgo book) too ask what they remember and where they took it to be serviced.
