Here's an example fault on the CITROEN Saxo (1996 - 2003)
What to look for:
Check the paperwork to see if there is a record of the cam belt being changed. On most Saxo engines, the cam belt and tensioners should be changed at 48,000 miles or 72,000 miles (check the car hand book).
What it means:
If the cam belt (and associated parts such as tensioner) have not been changed, and the mileage is over these boundaries, the cam belt is likely to fail soon and will cause expensive damage to the engine.
What to do
Ensure the cam belt is changed before buying/ driving the car. A cam belt change will cost £150.
