Question

Hi

On my Daewoo Lanos, when ignition is turned off, and everything else in off position, side lights front and rear stay on. What has caused this do you think? What can I do please? Thanks.

Answer

This is either a sticking light relay or a short circuit. Look at the diagram on the fuse box cover or in the handbook and locate the fuses and relay. Pull the light fuse out as a start point – if the lights stay on, you have a short after the fuse. If they go off, replace the fuse and remove the relay. Again, if they stay on, the short is after the relay. If they go off, look for an identical relay in the relay box and substitute it as a test. If all work fine, replace the relay, if not, you’re best bet is an autoelectrician to trace the fault or bypass the wiring altogether.
