DAIHATSU has improved its Charade range in a move which pushes up prices by more than £750.
The cost of the budget supermini rises from £5,695 to £6,460 for the three-door entry level model.
The five-door version increases by the same amount to a new high of £6,960 plus a further £755 for automatic transmission in both cases.
Daihatsu says that the new Charade gains air-conditioning and new interior trim and the front seats have been lengthened by 30mm for better under-thigh support.
Also new are the front grille and bumper, while the suspension has been revised with a front anti-roll bar and retuned dampers to reduce body roll and sharpen handling.
To improve the braking performance the front discs are now ventilated.
The rest of the car remains the same, with the one-litre engine being carried over to give economy of 60mpg, a 0-60mph time of 14 seconds and a 99mph top speed.
The car comes with front airbags only, electric front windows and door mirrors, central locking, a radio/CD player and a CO2 rating of 114g/km resulting in a £40-a-year licence.
