DAIHATSU has reduced its Terios range to just two models, and raised the price of entry by about £2,000.
This means that the cheapest version is now the Terios Sport, which at £11,995 is a replacement for the £9,980 Terios E, albeit with a host of extra kit.
It is also £1,015 more than the former Terios EL, which disappears too in the new line-up.
The new Sport version has 17-inch wide alloy wheels carrying low-profile 225/55 tyres, air-conditioning, anti-lock brakes, four-speaker radio/CD player, large front fog lamps set into a full-width black bumper panel, large rear tailgate spoiler, and a choice of silver or black, green or blue metallic paint with silver lower body cladding.
The Sport also replaces the Terios SL which cost £12,980.
There is also a version called the Tracker, which Daihatsu says has the same specification as the former EL, but at £9,995 is £985 less.
Equipment includes power steering, twin front airbags, electric front windows and door mirrors, central locking, a radio/cassette player, 15 x 5.5 ins alloy wheels with 205/70 tyres and full-time four-wheel drive with an electronic differential-lock.
The Terios Sport and Tracker have a five-door body with 185 mm ground clearance and short front and rear overhangs for genuine off-road ability.
Daihatsu's 1.3 litre 86 bhp petrol engine gives reasonable performance and CO2 emissions of 183 g/km, combined with economy of 35mpg.
They come with a three year unlimited mileage warranty and roadside protection.
