THE convertible Fiat 500 will be in showrooms here in Britain first when it's launched in June.
The funky 500 is already selling like hot cakes judging from the number I see on the roads, and neat styling, together with small but punchy engines, has much to do with that.
The convertible is not a full drop-top, but in the tradition of Fiats from many years ago and others of the same era, has a canvas roof which slides back, leaving the doors and side frames intact.
The entry 1.2 Pop will cost £11,300, with the range-topping 1.3 Mjet turbo diesel Lounge at £14,100 - £3,200 more than the hatches.
It seems like a huge price hike, but knowing our penchant for open air motoring, I'm sure it will sell faster than they can make it.
Pop models all have an electrically operated roof, air-conditioning, seven airbags, remote locking, a CD player and electric mirrors.
Interior
Top range Lounge models add climate, stability control, rear parking sensors and Fiat's Blue&Me entertainment and communications system.
They also come with the eco:Drive system, which helps owners drive more economically and all will be available in a choice of 11 colours.
