I would like to find out if my car has it's original timing belt as it snapped and caused alot of damage to my car and i am going through trading standards and need to find out if it was ever changed.
Answer
Your ways of finding out are to check the service book and log book. Call the previous owners and garages that have serviced it (especially at the mileage interval when the belt was due to be changed). If they don't have a record of the change then you probably can't prove when it was done.
The interval for the belt will be listed in our buyers guide: http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk/cars.aspx?numModel=160
