I want a 1.8 or 1.9 diesel hatchback which has auto lights and auto wipers and heated front screen.
It also needs to give reasonable mpg and be reasonable to insure.
I would be grateful if you could advise which makes and models of cars have these features as standard

- Heated front screen = Ford (although air conditioning in most cars clears a screen very quickly)
- Auto headlights = Last 2-3 years, top specifciation cars. In Ford's case Ghias, Titaniums etc. But on the used market someone may have had it fitted as an option to a lower spec car.
- The Focus is pretty tired and unrefined compared to most now. I would go for the Astra, or very latest Megane if your budget allows and the heated screen is not so important.
- If the heated screen is a deal breaker, go with the latest Ford Fiesta
