My Ford Escort rear lights keep failing along with a few dashboard instrument lights. Plus my engine keeps cutting out for no reason with abnormal revs, whats the cause of this please?

This is almost certainly the fuse and relay board under the driver’s side of the dashboard. They suffered from cracking on the circuit board which led to this type of problem.
If you take the board out (not as bad as it looks, trust me) you can usually see the crack and if you’re a dab hand with a soldering iron it can be repaired. If not, try a 2nd hand unit – but make sure it’s not cracked too.
