hi I have a Ford Escort estate , and have just had both wishbones replaced and now there is a rattle sound travels on cars. I know but it wasnt there before I had wishbones done.
I took it back and they said when it gets louder come back because they couldnt find where it was coming from... What should I do?
Answer
Some garages have shock absorber testers that simply vibrate the wheels up and down. I would ring around to find one so that you can have a good look at where the rattle’s coming from while the car’s stationary. In the meantime, wind the windows down on a bumpy road and see if the rattle stops when you’re braking. If so, check the anti rattle springs on the brake callipers – if they’re missing or incorrectly fitted, the pads can rattle inside the callipers which sounds more alarming than it is.
