FORD is serving up a blast of heavy metal thunder with its latest limited edition model.
It comes in the shape of a new Fiesta Metal hot hatch boasting 134PS of punch and carrying a price tag of £15,695.
Limited to just 1,000 cars, the Ford Fiesta Metal is powered by a 1.6-litre, Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine and can reach 62mph in just 8.7 seconds.
Based on the three-door 120PS Fiesta Zetec-S, the Metal sports chrome twin exhaust pipes, silver-painted front grille surround, front aerofoil and fog light bezels.
Inside, the centre stack bezel, air vent rings and door pulls are in Piano Black while the ebony leather sports seats have silver contrast stitching.
There are also unique floor mats with silver piping, stainless steel door scuff plates with Fiesta logo, 17-inch black alloy wheels and sports tuning with lowered ride height, as well as three exterior colours - Panther Black, Midnight Sky and Frozen White.
Meanwhile, Ford's low emission ECOnetic engine is now available in both Zetec and Titanium models of the Fiesta line-up – with emissions of just 95g/km – as well as the current Edge version.
It means Ford now has a three-model ‘green’ Fiesta line-up and all feature the Dagenham-built, specially calibrated version of the 1.6 litre, 95PS Duratorq TDCi engine which boasts a combined 78.5mpg fuel economy plus zero road tax.
Ford of Britain marketing director Anthony Ireson said: "Many drivers want to drive a car with lower emissions but still want comfort, performance and an affordable price. Expanding ECOnetic across the series answers that demand, with style."
The ECOnetic models in the Fiesta range start with Edge ECOnetic, priced from £13,895, which includes Electronic Stability Programme, air-con, lowered suspension, aerodynamic improvements and low rolling resistance tyres.
The Zetec ECOnetic, from £14,445, has the likes of 14-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear wheel air deflectors, chrome surrounds on headlights, lower front grille, three-spoke leather steering wheel and ambient lighting.
And topping the range, the Titanium ECOnetic, from £15,645, adds Sony DAB Radio, Bluetooth voice control and USB connectivity, cruise control, front upper grille chrome strip, powered folding door mirrors, privacy glass, automatic headlamps and wipers, two rear speakers and a perimeter alarm.
All also have a green shift indicator in the instrument cluster to highlight the optimum point to change gear.
Mars Red and Fashionista have been added to the ten colour options, DAB radio is now an option on all models and standard on Titanium, while Bluetooth, voice control and USB connectivity are available from Edge to Titanium models.
