FORD has upped the appeal of its FiestaVan 2011 models courtesy of engines that exceed the European Stage V emissions requirements.
It means the company’s light commercial vehicle customers can benefit from improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
The 1.4-litre FiestaVan has a touch of extra power at 70PS while the 1.6-litre unit is up to 95PS, the 2011 models also coming with a Diesel Particulate Filter and trip computer.
Base versions also get some added power from the 1.25-litre Duratec 82PS engine, along with a trip computer as standard.
Ford Transit Connect customers can now benefit from improved fuel economy and lower emissions by opting for the new 1.8-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi engine with 90 or 110PS, that also exceeds Euro V.
Mark Simpson, marketing director at Ford of Britain, said: "Despite a tough business climate, Ford Fiesta van sales are up 40 per cent this year. This work towards maintaining class-leading low cost of ownership is how we try to make the Ford range the one that British businesses choose."
Citroen has also been busy, the French company’s Berlingo panel vans powered by Euro 4 1.6HDi 75hp and 90hp diesel engines benefiting from improvements in fuel economy and emissions from the start of October.
The engines have been re-worked to deliver average fuel consumption improvements of up to 1.7 per cent and CO2 emissions reductions of up to 6g/km.
