PEUGEOT is celebrating a treble after landing a trio of awards in a top honours list.
The French company’s 5008 people mover won overall Car of the Year as well as Best MPV in the Diesel Car magazine awards 2010.
And Peugeot also took the Best Crossover gong with the 3008 and the Sports Car class with the stylish new RCZ coupe.
More than 275 new cars were put through their paces to choose the winners in ten categories, including a new section for Best Eco Car, which recognises the best in the hybrid world of motoring and went to the Toyota Prius.
Some of the winners topped their respective classes in last year’s awards, with the Ford Fiesta grabbing best small car for the second year running.
Volkswagen’s Golf completed a double in the best medium car class and Skoda’s Superb again took both the best large car award and added the best estate prize.
Jaguar’s stunning XF did better than all of them by running away with the best executive car award for the third year in succession.
In the 4x4 class, Land Rover’s updated Discovery 4 took the top spot, narrowly beating last year’s winner the Freelander 2 and the upgraded Range Rover.
Diesel Car editor Ian Robertson said: “We have seen a lot of talented contenders this year, despite the turmoil the motor industry has faced.
“The 5008 truly is the right car for the right times, with competitive pricing, generous equipment levels and a good all-round driving experience, wrapped up in a package that seats seven. What more could a family buyer want from a car?”
