Question

Please can you help?

I am looking to buy a car within the next two years hopefully and I am overwhelmed with the car choice available to me.

I have thought about purchasing a Ford Fiesta from 2002, or a Volkswagon Polo. I want a car that is relatively cheap and economical to run, is small, yet has good safety features, cheap to insure and suitable for two children almost in their teens.

The last car I had was a datsun cherry which was back in 1996 and have not owned a car since then. I am in my early thirties and have not made any insurance claims since obtaining my driver's liscence in 1996, does this entitle me to a no claims bonus?

I would be grateful for your help and advice.

Yours sincerely,

Val

Answer

Hi Val,

A Datsun Cherry, hey A "modern classic" if ever there was.

You will either have a no claims bonus because you have been paying your insuance without a claim for the last few years, or you won't.

The Fiesta, according to our facts section has an Ncap rating of 4/5 which is very good and it is so much cheaper to buy and repair than the Polo, that I would go that way. it is a wel-styled car that doesn't look dated even though the new model is now out.

Matt
