FORD'S Focus has been voted the most popular car of the decade - for the second time in a week.
Only days after valuation experts named it as the best used car, magazine readers added another accolade by selecting it has their favourite family transport of the last 10 years.
The market leader's small family car trumped sports, SUV and city car models to take pride of place in the Auto Trader poll.
'Even though it has been rocked by financial problems, Ford has remained such an iconic brand that the Fiesta and Mondeo also featured strongly in our list of the most loved cars in Britain,' said a spokesman.
Designed to analyse key motoring trends, the poll found that sat-nav systems topped the list of optional 'extras' that most symbolised the era.
'Although alloy wheels and sound systems still epitomise the boy racer of many a man's youth, the inclusion of TV screens and iPod docks in the list is a sure sign that technology has allowed cars to come a long way in the past ten years,' added the spokesman.
The Fiesta was runner-up to the Focus as car of the decade, followed by the BMW 3 Series, the Mondeo and the Vauxhall Astra. Best value for money vote went to the Fiat Panda, followed by the Skoda Superb, and the Toyota Prius won the vote as the greenest car.
