I have a Ford Focus on a 07 plate with 1000 miles on clock .
There is quite a lot of blue smoke from exhaust after lying overnight. it clears quickly and doesn't appear again until it has been lying overnight.
Any ideas please?
Make sure it really is blue smoke – if it is, it indicates oil burning and my first suspicion would be valve guides.
On a car this new it can’t be wear, so it must be a manufacturing problem. If it is oil burning you should smell it when standing behind the car. It’s an acrid, unpleasant smell.
If it’s white and doesn’t smell, it’s simply condensation in the cold exhaust and perfectly normal. If it does smell of oil burning, try to leave it at the dealer overnight and let them see the problem for themselves.
