Why Buy: Well it does look a teeny bit like a Ferrari coupe plus it has four seats. The same designers were involved in both, but the Peugeot is more affordable and far cheaper to run. Like a Ferrari it can shrink a continent in some style and a huge amount of comfort. Yes it’s a good
value buy.
Equipment: All models have air conditioning, CD and sports seats. S had uprated alloys, interior trim and extra safety features and the SE has even more upmarket trim, bigger speakers and leather trimmed steering wheel.
Driving: Like the humble saloon it is based on, the coupe is great to drive with bags of grip and a controlled ride. It feels like a big comfy car, which it is, but hustles along with the fluidity of a sports car.
Marketplace: Peugeot’s problem has been their fleet car image which does not translate to a prestigious coupe, so values are low, as is the overall demand. This means buying one is not a difficult or very costly experience especially for the fuel hungry V6.
Best Buys: The basic 2.0 is fine and does not cost much to run. It’s worth finding an SE, and the revised 2.2 is even better. In the current climate the 2.2HDi is most sought after, whereas the most coupe for your money will be the 3.0 V6.
Sum Up: This is a car for those who really don’t care what badge is on the bonnet. They are right to do this because in return they get a safe, comfy and well equipped coupe. More than that though, it is stylish and sensational value for money.
