Back in 2000 as a new car the Mondeo was recognised as being a very good thing. It was showered with awards from the leading motoring publications, including gongs for security and safety. Yet again the Mondeo set the standard for handling. So for £7K you will get yourself a 2006/7 petrol model with a 30K mileage.
Quite simply the Mondeo is a big car, but it never feels like it. The body movements are well controlled and the steering is quite sharp. Even better the ride is smooth, so the road surface will always seem smooth even if it isn’t. The only exception is the sporty 17-inch wheel and low profile tyres. On the move though you may notice some wind noise and you can just sense a gruff roar from the engines. On the subject of engines there were three new units with the new Mondeo both the 2.0I and the 1.8I were excellent petrol units. Finally Ford had managed to make a diesel engine that was responsive and reasonably refined.

So the Mondeo is great to drive, it is also a comfortable one. There is tons of room inside, easily accommodating five and rear space is much better than on earlier models and only the tallest 6-foot plus passengers could complain. Even the sizeable boot can be extended into the cabin, only the one-piece rear cushion gets in the way. The Mondeo is a well-equipped car with lots of airbags, air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, electric seat height adjustment, four electric windows and a CD player on every single model. As we have just pointed out the Mondeo is a safe and secure vehicle. Yes there are six airbags; anti-whiplash headrests and full curtain airbags that are mounted at head height are all part of the standard package. A safe place to put your family then.
