THEY are the pictures to get Mondeo man licking his lips in anticipation – revealed a full 14 months ahead of the popular Ford’s UK arrival.
And the reason for the early release is because the Mondeo’s American equivalent – the Ford Fusion – is being revealed at this week’s Detroit Motor Show.
Ford has confirmed that the midsize Fusion signals the next generation Mondeo for world markets but stresses that current details relate to the American model, with specific Mondeo info to follow later.
That said, fans of the Mondeo can expect top fuel economy and an engaging driving experience from the new car as well as a sleek silhouette and fresh face.
Development chief Derrick Kuzak said: “We brought our global teams together around a blank slate with the charge to develop a midsize car with ground- breaking design and jaw-dropping fuel economy – one that featured technologies to help make our customers safer and better drivers. This car is the result.”
In the States it will be the first sedan to offer petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, along with seven must-have technologies - including a lane keeping system, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and MyFord Touch communications and entertainment system.
