Hi
I have a Mondeo 2002 TDCI130ps, following a recent service there is a whistling sound form under the bonnet when I depress the clutch.
The car is fine other than that, and it seems to make no difference what speed I am doing, or what gear I am in. It's just whenever I depress the clutch.
Cheers - Jamie
Answer
First, get someone to sit in the car (engine off) and press the pedal for you while you look under the bonnet around the clutch area to see if something’s been badly routed during the service and is being moved as the clutch pedal’s pressed.
If there’s nothing obvious, get the assistant to start the engine and listen carefully to detect where the whistle’s coming from. The most obvious cause would be the clutch release bearing, but the fact that engine speed makes no difference and it starting after a service would make me look at everything else first.
If you draw a blank, take it back to the garage that serviced it.
