THERE is always something pleasantly reassuring when a Honda is booked for a test drive - somehow you just know you are guaranteed a certain high standard of quality.
And the latest Accord Tourer certainly lives up to all expectations boasting outstanding levels of comfort and luxury throughout, combined with an abundance of classy features and, last but not least, blistering performance credentials.
In fact, it's easy to see why the Accord is being given more than a second glance by buyers looking for something with a little executive prowess.
Fully adjustable heated leather seats, a reversing camera, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, pollen filter, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, cruise control, parking sensors, brilliant sound system and a boot that opens and closes at the press of a button are just a few of the eye-catching features on this vehicle but there are many, many more.
The interior is light and spacious with ample room for five adults and the boot area can easily cater for a family's luggage demands. In addition, there are many other storage compartments scattered throughout the cabin.
If I had to find fault, then my one small criticism would be the slightly patterned top of the dashboard which can cause some unwanted reflections on the windscreen at times.
That aside though, the Accord seems virtually flaw-free.
Excellent all-round visibility makes parking an absolute doddle and despite its length (about 15.5ft) manoeuvrability is deceptively good.
But it really is out on the open road that the Accord excels.
The five-speed automatic transmission is both smooth and effective and the road-holding could match many a supercar. The excellent suspension makes for a smooth ride and despite its diesel powered engine, the vehicle is very quiet.
As well as boasting great spec levels, the Accord comes packed with top-notch safety equipment too.
Features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, the highest quality seat belts, numerous airbags and side impact protection beams to name just a few.
All in all, the Honda Accord has survived the test of time since its launch in 1976 and with every reincarnation it goes from strength to strength.
