WITH one of the widest ranges of vehicles in the UK Honda consistently tops the polls for reliability and customer satisfaction.

Several of its best-selling models are made in Britain and this year has seen the addition of an important new hybrid model to rival the Toyota Prius.

The petrol/electric five-door hatchback Insight also undercuts the Toyota significantly on price, starting from just £15,490.

It offers low-emission, fuel-efficient motoring in a practical package and is expected to attract an average of 8,000 new buyers a year.

Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is claimed at 64.3mpg with emissions as low as 101g/km (SE model). ES grades achieve 61.4mpg.

The Insight reaches 62mph from a standing start in 12.5 seconds and has a top speed of 113mph.

Apart from the Insight the Honda range starts with the Jazz city car, which has the lowest depreciation in its sector and costs from £9,90 for the 1.2 S five-door.

The larger Civic, which has long been a favourite with UK motorists, offers a line-up of no fewer than 17 models including two hybrid saloon versions. Prices for petrol models now start at £14,250 for the entry-level 1.4 i-VTEC Type S 3dr. Oil-burners start at £14,597 for the 1.4 i-DSI which returns 50mpg.

There's an even bigger choice of Accord saloons, which are popular with both company and retail buyers and have strong residual values thanks to their unrivalled reliability.

Starting price for the range is £19,395 for the 2.0 i-VTEC ES and on up to the flagship diesel Tourer 2.2 i-DTEC EX GT which comes in at £28,095.

Six adults can travel in comfort in Honda's spacious FR-V MPV, of which there are still stocks left with huge discounts off the £16,700 official list price.

Those in search of a stylish mid-range 4x4 with reasonable running costs will be impressed by Honda's CR-V, which is good on as well as off-road.

Generously equipped and very comfortable, the CR-V range starts at £19, 185 for the 2.0 i-VTEC SE. Diesel versions begin at £20,485 for the 2.2 i-CTDi SE.
