Hi
Having previously owned a VW Golf (04) and an Audi A2 (03) I'm looking to buy a realible and cheap to run, small family car, preferably not a Focus or Fiesta!
I have a budget of £2,000 - £3,000. Can you advise?
Answer
Hi
So I guess ou like the heavy clunk of German doors and the solid build quality? Or is it the image that you like? But, based on choosing an A2, you also don't mind the quirky. So...
How about one of these three:
- 2001 Honda Jazz - 1.4 engine give 50 MPG
- 2003 Fiat Panda - 1.2 engine gives 50 mpg and repairs will be cheap
- 2001/2002 Citroen C3 - 1.4 diesl gives 66 mpg
They are not so well built (except teh Jazz) but are quirky, attractive and cheap.
Or if you want to look at bigger cars, where economy, insurance and tyre costs will all be a bit more, what about a 2002 Renault Megane, 2002 Seat Leon or Ibiza, or at a push you could for a late 90s Saab?
Best of luck
