What to look for:
These engines consume a lot of oil. The oil level should be checked weekly. When the engine is cold, locate the dipstick on the engine. Pull it out, wipe it and dip it back in and out. The oil should be a golden colour and leave a mark between the half full and full markers.
What it means:
If the oil is black or low the car needs a service and oil change urgently. If oil runs too low the engine will be damaged and need re-building for £1,500.
