HYUNDAI is pushing hard to take full advantage of the Government's scrappage scheme with a brace of special edition models which offer extra equipment and potential savings of up to £3,500 for qualifying buyers.

The ES limited editions of the Hyundai i10 and i30 are based on the entry level cars in the ranges, but have extra style and more luxury.

The i10 ES has all the equipment of the Classic model including four air-bags, air-conditioning, central locking and front electric windows and adds driver's seat height adjustment, remote central locking and colourful inserts on the interior seating, dashboard and door panels. Outside, the i10 ES features body-coloured door handles, mirrors and bumper inserts.

Only 1,000 i10 ES editions are available, priced at £7,195. Hyundai will match the government's £1,000 scrappage allowance on eligible trade-ins - making an i10 ES available for just £5,195.

There's even more to be saved on the ES version of the i30 hatchback which is based on the 1.4 Comfort model but adds extra luxury equipment including electronic climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, reversing sensors and a silver front grille.

Only 500 i30 ES editions will be made, priced at £11,795. But buyers trading in a car under the scrappage scheme will benefit from a £2,500 golden handshake from Hyundai who will match the government's £1,000 and knock off an additional £1,500 taking the scrappage price down to just £8,295.

Both models are available to order now, but are expected to sell out quickly as the scrappage scheme goes live.

The company says that enquiries at its dealerships are up by more than 400 per cent following the chancellor's announcement last month.
