JAGUAR'S X-Type has a fresh face for 2008 along with some new features inside and out plus - for the first time - automatic transmission on the 2.2-litre diesel.
It may not look very different but the company says there are almost 500 new components.
Jaguar says: ``The exterior styling is significantly refreshed with changes that clearly reflect some of the new saloon car design language while subtle interior revisions give more choice of trim and equipment.''
Most important is the combination of diesel power and automatic transmission - a feature so far missing from the X-Type line up but offered by most rivals.
The 2.2 litre diesel engine is pared with a six-speed automatic incorporating Jaguar's sequential shift system.
The company says it is aiming to broaden the baby Jag's appeal among younger buyers.
When it goes on sale here from March it will cost from £21,500 for the 2.0-litre diesel saloon.
The new 2.2-litre diesel will cost from £22,500 for the saloon and £23,900 for the estate plus £1,450 for the automatic transmission.
