SIX months after it went on sale the new Jaguar XF still has enthusiasts drooling over it.
The car made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September and since then has gone on to win a host of awards.
The XF is unlike anything Jaguar has ever built before either in styling or equipment levels.
In fact the designers have broken away from the more traditional look in a bid to take the marque forward, and by doing so are now appealing to a much broader age group of drivers.
It's a five-seater sports saloon that's up there with the best of the best. A car that's worlds away from previous saloon models, not only in its exterior design but its simple yet elegant interior, its innovations and its practicality.
Inside there is more wood than there has been in a Jaguar for generations but it's used in a much more modern way, enhancing the aluminium dashboard rather than being the dominant material.
As you open the door the starter button begins to pulsate red like a heartbeat as the car comes to life.
It's fun, it's innovative and it all adds to the feeling that this is a car with a difference.
And it doesn't stop there. A touch of the starter button brings the engine roaring into life while at the same time the hidden dashboard air vents rotate to the open position, the unique gear selector rises up from its recessed position in the centre console and the touch screen illuminates.
It's pure theatre, but sometimes that's what cars need to be different, to set themselves aside from their competitors.
The XF is available with a choice of three petrol engines: a 3.0-litre V6, a 4.2-litre V8 and a 4.2-litre V8 Supercharged.
Last, but not least, there is the 2.7-litre V6 Diesel, and it's this car which is proving to be the best seller, accounting for around 75 per cent of all XF orders.
Prices range from around £33,000 to £54,000.
The XF is being built alongside the company's more traditional XJ saloon range and the 2+2 XJ series.
The new flagship of the XK sportscar series is the new XKR-S coupe, the fastest production XK to date, providing the Jaguar enthusiast with an even more driver-focused high speed performance experience
Limited to 200 cars it is available only in Europe, in both right-hand and left-hand drive.
The XKR-S is capable of 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 174mph (280kph) - making it the fastest Jaguar since the XJ220 supercar.
The Jaguar X-TYPE was given a fresh new look for 2008, along with a host of new features inside and outside and a new automatic transmission in the acclaimed 2.2-litre diesel.
With significant revisions including nearly 500 new components, the new generation X-TYPE retains all the original car's strengths, and adds a host of new ones.
For the first time in this model range, the new X-TYPE offers the combination of diesel power with automatic transmission - pairing the 2.2-litre diesel with a six-speed automatic, and the one-touch control of Jaguar Sequential Shift - broadening the new model's appeal to buyers who previously could not have this combination in an X-TYPE.
Enhancements to the X-TYPE for 2008 offer customers improved value-for-money across the range. The line up starts from £21,320 for the entry model - the 2.0-litre diesel saloon while the new 2.2-litre diesel is priced from £22,300 for the saloon and £23,700 for the estate.
