Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Jamboree - Jeep Wrangler Car Review

Review

IT’S noisy, a bone-rattler, difficult to climb into and has warnings everywhere stating how easy it is to roll, but still there is something about the Jeep that has real “cor” appeal.

That something is originality and uniqueness. Despite its lack of refinement and back-to-basics specifications, it offers in return raw fun – plain and simple.

The Jamboree is a limited edition model launched to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Jeep brand.

With its mighty 4.0 engine, the Jeep has ample power and manoeuvrability to tackle any off-road challenge, and despite being a little sluggish on the open road – mainly due to its total lack of aerodynamics – the Jeep offers plenty in exchange.

One of its biggest attractions is its rugged, no thrills looks that have attracted generations of motoring enthusiasts. From the distinctive seven-slot front grille to its squarish, chunky build, the Jeep is guaranteed to turn heads, especially as it comes in some dazzling colours like flame red and banana skin yellow.

The Wrangler comes with a host of safety features including driver front passenger airbags, power steering, anti-lock brakes and an immobiliser to keep away unwanted attention.

Inside, there is a CD sound system with seven speakers, air conditioning, cruise control and numerous other features that were certainly lacking from the original Jeep models commissioned by the US Army back in 1941.

The Jamboree has a folding soft top with removable soft plastic side and rear windows, and despite not boasting the press-a-button raising and lowering of a roof, the “I’ve got a degree in Meccano assembly” style zips and levers seem to add even further to the appeal.

The Jeep is a vehicle that really grew on me the longer I spent behind the wheel and with a reasonable market price, it’s easy to see why its attraction in the UK is going from strength to strength.
