Hi
I recently purchased a brand new Kia Pro Ceed 2.0 diesel, but my circumstances have changed. Now have a child on the way and this car is not really suitable?
Would I be able to part exchange my car, but for a cheaper vehicle and would I get the difference back?
Answer
Hi
The best way to get 'all the money' for a car is to sell it privately. The key to this is to use Auto Trader, Motors.co.uk or Desperate Seller and place a full colour picture advert. Explain the reason for sale and the condition of the car (which I am guessing is perfect). Quote something between our 'best' or 'fair price' and wait for the calls - they will come.
Nearly new Kia's are not often found outside the main dealer network (for a variety of business reasons I won't bore you with right now). The Pro Cee'd is the first really desirabel Kia and has a 7 year warranty so there should be plenty of demand for this car - probably from one or two dealers too.
When someone comes to visit, make sure you stress the length of warranty and have the car in perfect sparkling condition.
If you cannot sell it because of the finance agreement or whatever, then you could consider trying to do a like for like swap with the Kia Cee'd estate or hatchback. But getting a cheque out of a dealer will be hard work and they will offer well under the fair price you can achieve with a private sale.
Best of luck
