KIA’S next generation Picanto supermini will feature a line up of new low emission engines.
The new Picanto will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and is due on sale in Britain in the autumn.
Kia has developed a new range of one-litre three cylinder engines and a 1.2-litre four cylinder unit which it says will cut CO2 emissions to between 95 and 105g/km.
British cars are likely to be available with stop/start systems which reduce CO2 further, ranging from 90 to 100 g/km.
The engines will be mated to either five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions, depending on model.
Although prices have yet to be announced Kia says the new Picanto will be larger than the current model and will feature LED daytime running lights, a push button-starter and up to seven airbags.
