Hello,
I was wondering if you could let me know what constitutes high mileage on a 2000 (approx) model Discovery or Range Rover?
I am looking to spend around £5,000-£6,000 and results are coming back with 60,000 whilst others are 120,000.
Is there a figure which I should be wary of?
Thanks.

Hi
As you will see in our price guide, average mileage varies from petrol to diesel.
With Range Rovers, you often see small mileages on cars made in the last few years followed by a sudden jump in annual mileage after around 3 years old. We can only speculate that new Range Rovers are bought by the wealthy (Chelsea Tractors) and used for small runs. But as used cars end up being used as work horses.
An average mileage on a year 2000 2.5TD Discoverys is around 80,000 and you want to avoid buying anything with a lot more than that really. Mileage equals wear, especially on diesel engines and that means bills.
Average mileage on the 4.0, 4.6 petrol and 2.5 D Range Rovers varies around 90,000 to 109,000. So the 60,000 cars, if priced sensibly are going to be good news.
