Hello,
Just Bought a 2000 Mazda 323 1.3lxi. Seems to be oil seeping from a threaded hole on the top of the engine near the oil filler cap. There are a few threaded holes on the top of the engine which i don't think are meant to have screws in them. There was no oil leaking from the head gasket or anywhere else so i didn't think it's a major problem.
Do I need to put a screw in there? What do you think is the cause? Cheers Jono
Answer
Is the engine cover present? If not, these threaded holes may well be for the bolts supposed to hold the cover on. My best suggestion is to find bolts with the right thread and of the right length and screw them in, possibly with some sealant on the threads or with a fibre washer under the bolt head.
