TWO decades of roadster success are to be marked by a special version of Mazda's MX-5.
Due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the 20th anniversary model has been produced for European markets and supplies will be limited to just 2,000 cars.
Based on the 1.8-litre SE, the special edition has scuff plates with unique serial numbers and a chrome finish for its grille, door handles and headlight surrounds, along with silver-look fog lamp surrounds, unique 17-inch alloy wheels and 20th Anniversary logos.
It can be ordered in three exterior colours - True Red, Crystal White Pearl and, specific for this edition, a new Aurora Blue - with matching body-colour painted decorative elements in the interior. A front suspension bracing bar is also added to ensure an even more sporty and exhilarating drive.
Mazda will also highlight its continuing environmental programmes with the European premiere of its next-generation SKY Concept, including the SKY-G petrol and SKY-D diesel engines and the SKY-Drive automatic transmission, at the motor show.
'These next-generation technologies will make a major contribution to achieving our target of improving fuel economy by 30 percent by 2015,' said a spokesman.
