Question

Hi, I have a 2000 MX-5. When it has been driven & the engine is warm/hot and I want to drive it again in 1-2 hours, when I start the engine it doesn't fire on all cylinders. When driven for 5-10 mins all the cylinders fire & it is fine.
Could this be a problem with the temperature sensor or what do you think this could be? Thank you.

Answer

Hi

This is a common problem. It is usually a coil pack or it could be a crank sensor. You need to get a Mazda dealer to diagnose it (£50) and then the repair bill is likely to be around £250. Here’s a little tip that might take the sting out of this: Phone ahead and speak to the head of service. Ask if they would do the diagnosis for free if you let them do the repair.

But you didn’t hear that from me!
