My Dad has just bought a 52 model of this and the drop down monitor worked at first but when he plugged the wires into the dvd player from the monitor nothing worked and now the monitor will no longer drop down and when unlocking/locking the car with the remote key the indicators are no longer flashing, we cant find any fuse that has blown in the main panel or in engine compartement, what is the problem?
Answer
This seems to be two separate problems. I don’t like the sound of your father having to plug the wires from the monitor into the DVD player – it makes me think there were serious problems with the entertainment well before he bought it. A competent ICE expert, or back to the garage he bought it from unless it was a private sale.
The indicators flash to show that the immobiliser/alarm system is armed. Check that the system hasn’t been switched off (you can often do this for servicing) Check the red light flashing on the dashboard – if it doesn’t flash when you lock the car, the immobiliser isn’t arming. If you haven’t disabled it deliberately, the hand set might need synchronising. One method that usually works is as follows:
Make sure the car is unlocked and stand outside it.
Remove the battery from the handset.
Press the lock and unlock buttons several times and hold them down for a few seconds.
Refit the handset battery.
Press the lock/unlock buttons a few times until the locks operate properly. Thsi may work to reset everything. If not, back to a dealer.
