Mercedes CLK 320 1999 engine cuts off while at low speed. Will not start again for approx 10 mins.oil level light comes on.

Sounds obvious, but check the oil level! These switches can be a real pain – they tell you to add 1 litre, then tell when you do the warning comes on to tell you the oil has been overfilled. What’s wrong with pushing a stick into the engine anyway???
Assuming the oil level is OK – and I’m sure you have checked it – the switch could well be faulty – it will stop the engine when the oil is dangerously low, but only from idle – you don’t want it cutting out on a motorway or at any speed, so the reasoning is that if you’re idling, you’re stationary so it’s safe to stop the engine.
