  • 4 engine faults
  • 1 suspension wear items or faults
  • 1 interior problems
  • 2 bodywork issues

Here's an example fault on the MERCEDES SLK (2004 - Present)

What to look for:

The 7 speed G-Tronic unit fitted as an option to some SLK350 models has to be serviced at 60,000kms (roughly 35,000/40,000 miles) - this should be clearly noted in the service book.

What it means:

If there is no record of this having been done there is a risk of damage to the gearbox – a highly complex and expensive unit. To replace the whole unit will cost £2550/£3000 at a specialist/main dealer and at least £1000 on labour at main dealer prices.

What to do

The gearbox is unlikely to have been damaged if the car has done no more than 50,000. Negotiate a £240 discount to have the service done.
