IT'S THE fastest road-going MG ever built and it could be coming to a race track near you soon.
Developed as a car which can be used on the road or race track, this new lightweight version of the MG SV is capable of 175mph and will rocket from rest to 60mph in less than five seconds.
Dubbed the X-Power SV-R, it's powered by a 385bhp, five-litre V8, all-aluminium, quad-cam engine. Developed by MG Sport & Racing it comes with race-derived lowered, long arm double wishbone suspension all round and runs on massive 20 inch, six spoke alloy wheels which house uprated Brembo disc brakes.
The carbon fibre body is feather-light, yet incredibly stiff, and MG says the lightweight construction contributes to impressive body rigidity and power to weight ratio.
While it may be designed to appeal to club racers and track day organisations, this bright orange beast is far from being a stripped down special. Inside there's black leather and Alcantara trim, deep pile wool carpets and automatic climate control and fittings include a six-speaker CD player and Becker TrafficPro satellite navigation system.
For those who do take the SV-R on the track the Recaro bucket seats come with a four-point safety harness and there's an integrated, FIA approved, steel roll cage.
The car will only be built to special order so final specifications and price will depend on individual customer choice - but don't expect much change out of £90,000.
