Question

Hello there, I'm an italian living in Italy.

I'm considering purchasing a used MG TF 115 1.6 private sale. It is registered in 2005 and has roughly done 9,500 miles. I'm asked 8,750 GBP. I'd use it as an everyday car(the only one). What do you think? Is it worth it?

How long could it last done that I do an average of 6,500 miles per year? What about the maintenance costs trough the years?

Thank you so much for your reply. Paolo

Answer

Hi Paolo,

This is a very low mileage car - so the price may seem high, but is actually about right.

There is no reason why this car won't do another 60-100,000 trouble free miles.

All the key checks to make are listed in our fault guide, but the key things are to ensure you change the cam belt early and check the water regularly. If the car overheats the aluminium head warps and you have to throw the engine away.

Keep an eye on those two things and enjoy cruising along the Almaphi coast with the top down!

Matt
