Question

Have just bought a Mini One 2001 and the seats appear to be jamming and it is almost impossible to return them to their original position without brut force, when allowing someone in the back

Answer

You do need a reasonable amount of positive shove (alright then, force) to make them “click” back into position, but it shouldn’t amount to what anyone might describe as brute force. If you’ve bought it from a garage, take it back for investigation/adjustment. If not, make sure there’s no grit or accumulated dirt fouling the locking mechanism – but there’s a fair amount of dismantling involved, so unless you’re enthusiastic with the spanners, you might want to refer it to a garage.
