Hi
I am contemplating part exchanging my Daihatsu Terios 2002 (even though it has had no problems as yet) for a 2005 1.8 Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin Elegance
I like the chunky 4x4 types and live in rural area, but can't decide because I would have to take out finance and I do like my Terios, it is cheaper to run etc.
Anything I need to know about Pinin problems?
Any advice appreciated to help me decide, thanks.

Answer
Hi,
If remotely uncomfortable with borrowing money, keep your Terios and save up a bit.
If you compare the values of the cars in our price guide you will see that the new car - at over £5,000 - is worth double your current wheels.
If you take out a private loan over 2 years though, you only need to pay back about £100 a month. When the loan is up your Mitsubishi should be worth about what the Terios is worth today.
So it won't be expensive motoring, but it won't move you forward either, because the Mitsubishi will lose so much over the next two years. You would be better off looking at other 4x4s (see the small 4x4 section of the magazine for ideas).
Good luck,
Matt
