Question

I have a new colt CZ1 with an annoying fault .when changing up the gears the engine continues to rev up for a couple of seconds after the accelerator pedal has been released I have returned the car to the dealers but they dont want to know the tech. Says "they all do it" please HELP!!

Answer

Go back to the dealer and tell them to take you out in another CZ1 that does the same. When they can’t, tell them to fix it or you will reject the car – that is, you will want a full refund. If they offer to fix yours, say you will accept a courtesy car in the meantime, but on the understanding that if they are unable to repair your car to your full satisfaction within one week, you will reject it anyway. Put all that in writing and insist on a demonstration drive before you accept your car back. Don’t be fobbed off – you have paid a lot of money and you the law recognises your right to be supplied with a car that works as it should.
