AN uprated version of Nissan’s high performance GT-R supercar is on the way priced from £69,950.

The car, which will make its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show later in the year, has been given more power and extra handling ability.

Tweaks to the twin turbo V6 engine boost power from 485bhp to more than 530 which could push the GT-R's maximum speed through the 200mph barrier.

Although Nissan is not revealing any performance data at the moment, the current car is already capable of exceeding 190mph with a 0 to 60 acceleration in the region of 3.5 seconds.

A new front bumper and grille have been aerodynamically enhanced to deliver more downforce while carbon composite and aluminium honeycomb struts have been fitted to create a more rigid body.

Suspension and brakes are also being improved to cope with the extra performance.

Inside, the new GT-R features a carbon finish on the dashboard with the steering wheel paddle shifters now made from magnesium. Recaro sports seats are standard and available in a choice of two designs.

The latest GT-R will be going on sale next year and although the price has increased by almost £10,000 Nissan says this takes into account the rise in VAT to 20 per cent.
