Hi,
I have a Nissan Micra shape, 1.0 1996.
I've recently been noticing that after the engine has warmed up, the idle sits high after being revved, then drops down to normal after a few seconds.
This occurs every time the engine is revved. also, when driving slow in low gears, the car is very jerky on the throttle.
Out on the open road, it runs perfectly smooth and averaging about 39mpg. Aany ideas would be gratefully received.
The idle speed control is part of the throttle body and over time a build up of dirt and deposits can make it sticky. A good clean with carburettor cleaner can solve the problem. The throttle body does give a few problems on the Micra, varying from poor fuse connections (check/clean/replace the fuses – they’re in the fuse box near the radiator) to dry soldered contacts in the unit itself, which can be carefully re-soldered.
