THE next-generation Nissan Murano has been unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show and is due here next year.
An evolution of the current vehicle that has been around for just a couple of years, the latest incarnation is little more than a refresh although it does incorporate the latest technology.
Having struck gold with its Qashqai in the expanding crossover market, Nissan is hoping to cash-in by billing the Murano as a mid-size crossover rather than one of the fully-fledged SUVs that are decried as Chelsea Tractors.
Nissan says of the new vehicle: "It has been designed as a super-evolution of the original with a new exterior and interior, enhanced technology and a premium driving feel resulting from a new advanced platform and continued refinement of the 3.5-litre 265bhp V6 engine and Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
"A new platform introduced on the Altima earlier this year provides a solid foundation with new lighter suspension components plus increased stiffness. New shock absorbers provide sure footing on all surfaces while a speed-sensitive power steering system delivers the proper levels of assistance in town and high-speed driving."
The latest Murano will go on sale in America in January and will hit UK roads towards the end of the year.
