THE Peugeot 107 shares its shape and much of its spec with the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1 and not one of them could be described as pretty.
But it is huge fun to drive, with a diminuative but free revving and sweet sounding 1.0-litre three cylinder engine
Toyota did the development and supplied the engine and, when you realise that it punches out 67bhp, you realise that in such a small, light car performance is going to be pretty good.
It will also average 60mpg and comes with group one insurance, so it is an excellent second, city or starter car.
It feels nippy and responsive as long as you use the gears and the revs, even though its actually quite slow and overtaking is an art. The thrum of the engine adds tremendously to its appeal.
The ride is quite acceptable much of the time, but it is noisy, as you would expect for a car in the very cheapest segment of the market.
Interior
Power steering, tidy handling and light controls make it very easy to drive. same as the standard cars, with the addition of alloy wheels twin exhausts, extra colour touches inside and a large stripe up over the roof.
The boot is tiny, but it is just about possible to carry four adults for short journeys, and the rear seats split fold.
