IMAGINE the English Football Association linking up with the Germans and Brazilians to produce a new international soccer team.
What an unbeatable squad that would be! Great bulldog spirit, brilliant at taking penalties and with more skill than a room full of blindfolded, chainsaw jugglers - on stilts.
Pure fantasy? Of course it is, but then again... imagine three of the world's biggest car companies joining up to spend hundreds of millions of pounds developing a brand new supermini.
Well, this car-azy idea has actually been undertaken by Toyota, Peugeot and Citroen - and the only major difference between their three new city cars is the badge each one wears.
The new generation of supermini was created at Toyota's plant in the Czech Republic.
Toyota has called its version the Aygo and the Citroen is the C1. I had the five-door Peugeot 107 petrol model for a week - and what a little cutie it is.
It's rare these days for anything other than a luxury or sports car to turn heads during a test drive. Well, I got more than a few glances with my 107 which has smooth lines and rather attractive bug-eyed headlamps.
In fact, I was even approached in a supermarket car park by one interested shopper who asked for my views on the car as his wife was apparently interested in buying one.
"Well, it's fun and funky to drive and offers exceptional economy of 61.4mpg - perfect for city centre driving," I began.
"The one-litre three cylinder engine provides steady acceleration and the five speed manual gearbox is slick. Top speed is a respectable 100mph," I continued to my inquisitor, "and economy is, of course, excellent for a car of its size.
"Moving to the interior..."
"Er, thanks," my questioner interrupted and then began to walk quickly away. Well, he did ask.
You can, surprisingly, get a little carried away when talking about the 107. But if you want a razzle-dazzle interior, then the Peugeot 107 is not for you.
The tiny car - which is just 11ft long and around five feet wide - also comes with ABS, excellent power steering, air-conditioning and electric windows.
Of course space is limited, although you can fit four adults into the vehicle with a little squeeze. Try packing more than a couple of suitcases into the tiny boot, though, and you will have some problems.
According to the PR blurb, the car is aimed at young singles, couples with no children, or retired people who will all surely value its low price and great fuel economy.
As for me, well, I really liked the Peugeot 107 but not as much as my wife did. She has put it down on her list of possible replacements for her elderly Ford Fiesta - although she hasn't seen the Aygo or C1 yet.
